I was at the Saskatoon Public Library today to hear the Lee Kozak Trio perform a set of jazz oriented improvised music in conjunction with an art exhibit currently showing in the second floor art gallery, a series of portraits painted by artist Karen Holden. This senior citizen was amongst the crowd. I'm sure the sometimes aggressive nature of the music created wasn't quite what she was expecting, but to her credit she stayed for most of the performance. She also told one of the library staff that they should have more musical performances. Another woman she talked to certainly didn't know what kind of music would be played. The second woman asked where the vocal trio was, to which the first woman replied that the second most certainly had heard wrong, as no vocal trio was scheduled.
I liked the music guitarist Kozak, keyboardist Bill Stephanson, and drummer Duane Dorgan did, especially the third piece they created. Below you'll find a shot of some of the other members of the audience today.
