You Can't Miss 'Em.

With the change of seasons came a new Midtown Plaza ad campaign.  Continuing on the "Fashion First" theme they've long used you can now see this couple all over the place, such as on buses...

...on billboards...

...and even on the floor of Midtown Plaza itself.  Of course you can also see them on the Midtown Plaza website.

Incidentally the billboard above has appeared before on this blog, while you can see an image from a previous Midtown Plaza ad campaign here.

Geezer.

Although Saskatoon Transit has bought quite a few buses in recent years their fleet reportedly still has an average age of 15 years.  A number of 1970s era GMC buses such as this one still see regular service.

Here's the rear of bus 401, which today was running on the Number 12 route.

Doing Their Part.

Here's a day early Earth Day appropriate post.  Above is a decal that I spotted recently on one of Saskatoon Transit's hybrid buses.  They've operated hybrid diesel-electric buses since 2006.

Here's one of the first batch of these buses.  They're made by New Flyer.  Sharp eyed Saskatonians will probably notice that this is quite an old picture by my standards given the rather incomplete nature of the King George, visible in the background of this shot.  In fact this photo is from amongst the first batch I took with the Kodak C713.

In The Middle.

A man panhandling today while standing in the centre island of Preston Avenue at the intersection with 8th Street. At least one driver stopped for the red light gave him something.

This second picture was taken with the Kodak C713's optical zoom at maximum and its digital zoom activated, hence the quality of the picture.

Stopped Bus.

Located on the corner of 21st Street and Spadina Crescent Saskatoon Bus Stop Refreshments is a food kiosk run out of a decommissioned double decker bus.  Generally open between the start of April and the end of October it serves such casual fair as ice cream and hot dogs.  It should be noted that this style of bus never served with Saskatoon Transit.

The Flip Side.

As a followup to my previous post featuring art on the Drinkle No. 3 building here is the opposite side of the structure.  It features an ad for the Saskatoon Star Phoenix that is hard to miss.

A similar ad is found on an apartment building on 2nd Avenue, seen here from the 23rd Street bus mall.
